CalMac warning of severe weather disruption to ferries

Ferry operator, CalMac, has just [12.42 3rd December]  sent out a general warning of severe upcoming weather disruption to ferry services on the Clyde and west coast for 5th December.

The company says: ‘…strong winds, gusting to more than 80mph in places, are likely cause major disruption to ferry services across its entire network on Thursday, December 5, 2013.

‘CalMac is advising ferry travellers to check its website linked here for the latest information.

‘The passenger service between Gourock and Dunoon operated by CalMac’s sister company, Argyll Ferries, may also be affected. The latest information on that service will be available here on the Argyll Ferries website.

‘We have had a very stormy start to the winter with many services affected by high winds in the last few weeks.

‘The forecast for Thursday morning is looking particularly severe and we would advise ferry travellers to take this into account when planning journeys in the next few days.

‘We are grateful for the patience and understanding of all our customers at this time.’
