Expect ferry disruptions today

[Updated below] With largely NW winds forecast to run from Strong Breeze to Fresh Gale 8 and Strong Gale 9, CalMac are warning of possible disruption to Argyll’s ferry services today, 17th August, in the Clyde, the sea lochs and on the west coast island routes.

Many of these routes are already on AMBER alert, with possible delays and cancellations at short notice .

Update 10.00 17th August: Wind strengths around Argyll and the Isles for this afternoon have now been downgraded, but are still forecast as averaging 34 mph or Moderate Gale 7.

Almost all Argyll ferries are  now on Amber alert, with the services to Coll and Tiree and to Colonsay cancelled.
